The curriculum of the Pre-Kindergarten program was developed with the knowledge that learning progresses from the concrete level of understanding to the more abstract. The material used and the experiences presented to these children are designed to enhance this concept.
The curriculum emphasizes math and reading readiness and language development. Simple science and social studies units are presented. Art, music, Spanish, computer, pre-writing, manners and etiquette, and health and safety are also part of the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum. During instruction the "real school" experiences and expectations are emphasized. Physical development is considered an important part of the program and is promoted through outdoor play. It is designed to improve large and small motor skills along with coordination. These children take field trips to develop awareness of the community. |
